The kumara Times. Published Every Evening. FRIDAY, JUNE 13, 1879.

Mrßarff, M.H.R., addressed a meeting of his constituents at Hokitika last evening, and received a vote of confidence. The Arab ura Road Board question occasioned a large amount of personal recrimination in the VVestlaiid County Council on Wednesday last, in which the name of a Dillman's Town resident formed one of the leading features. Eventually a committee consisting of the Chairman and Messrs, Jack, Seddon, M'Whirter, and Dale were appointed to interview the County Solicitor to ascertain if the form of proceedings for merging the Arahura Road Board was legal. A meeting of those persons who have kindly volunteered their services on behalf of an entertainment in aid of the Hospital wiU take place at the Adelphi Hotel, this evening, when we understand the first rehearsal will in all probability be undertaken. As there were several wellknown local vocalists who were precluded from attending the previous meetings through business engagements, we trust they will avail themselves of this opportunity of tendering their services in a cause having for its primary object the relief of suffering,-humanity.' We are glad to observe the prompt action taken by the municipal authorities in filling up some of the most dangerous of the water-holes in close proxfinity to the Main Road South, where the late and nearly fa£al accident occurred a few-day's ago. *. News has been received of the death of Colonel Arney, brother of the. late Chief Justice. He -served for some years in New Zealand.
