SPORTING ITEMS.

The American horse Parole won the City and Suburban Handicap at Epsom. (This is Perrie Lorrillard’s horse, sent over from New York.) Lord Roaeberry’s 4 year old Ridotto was second, and Lord Wilton’s 6 year old Cradle third. The International Handicap at Newmarket was won by Briglia. Parole did not start. The field was the smallest since 1848. The Newmarket Handicap was also won by Parole, beating Sonanong, Lina, and others. Parole is nominated for the Ascot Stakes, to be run on June 10th. This horse also won the Great Metropolitan Stakes at Epsom on 23rd. Lorrillard won something over L 20,000. Lord Falmouth’s Oharibert won the 200 guinea Stakes at Newmarket; Gaoler’s Cadogan second, and Comet and Lea Gwynge’a Bason D’Or third. The great Sandown Hurdle Bace was won by Ignition, Blue Ruin second, Sir Hugh third. , The International Steeplechase was won by Lord Betsford’s Jack, Marshall Neill second, Liberation third. Mr Lorillard’s American horse Papoose also won a race for the first Spring Two-year-old Stakes at Newmarket on May 1. In the One Thousand Guineas Race, Mr Lorillard’s fillies are all scratched. Lord Hetland’s Hot Sam is scratched for the Chester Trades Cup. The betting against Porole was 5 to 4. In the same event Parole lost the Cup race, but retrieved by winning the Great Chester Handicap Stake by three lengths. The sportsman says he won the race in the commonest canter.
