A debate took place iu the House of Lords last night relating to Free Trade v. Protection. The Premier spoke on the subject, and declared that recipio. city, which meant a reverse of Free Trade principles, was now sinpiy impossible.

At a ireeting of the Liberal party at Chelsea, Sir Charles Dilke, chahman, Mr Berry, in n'ply to an address, said that he expected ultimately to see Australia was now more like a republic than the monarchy of England.-
