KUMAR A VOLUNTEER FIRE BRIGADE.
The usual mdnthly meeting of the Fire Brigade was held last evening; Present! Captain Powell, Secietary Skilton, Lieut. Anderson, Messrs Dove, Grams, King, Fitzsimmons, and North; The minutes of the previous meetings were read and confirmed.
The Chairman reported the amount of £5 8s 9d to credit in the Union Bank, and in members’ fund, £2 16s. The following accounts were passed for payment:—S. S. Pollock, 18s; D. M'Leart, £1 11s 6d ; Oram.-.’ expenses to Hokitika, £1 6s; Kerr, Arnott,- and Co., £2 19s ; Cowlishaw and Plaistedj £1 10s 6d; Spiers, 3s 6d; Night Watchman, £l2 ; Secretary, stationery and telegrams, £lO 10s. It was resolved that the Night Watchman receive one month’s nonce, as the Brigade is not in a position to guarantee his salary.
It was resolved that the balance of the members’ fund be withdrawn from the Post Office Savings Bank. The Secretary was instructed to write to the Secretary of the Unit d Fire Brigade Association, in reply to their circular.
The meeting was then adjourned till Wednesday evening, April 10th, for the purpose of receiving the Auditors* report and balance-sheet.
