Wellington, Apiil 4. Mr R. J. Duncan, auctioner, has been compelled to call a meeting of his creditors to-morrow.

The Uity Council last night decided to take a vote of the ratepayers on a f.esh drainage loan of £l5O, 000 before proceeding with Clarke's scheme. This is generally regarded as amounting to the indefinite postponement of all drainage.

Christchurch, April 4. The Customs revenue for the quarter ending March 31st, 1876, is £00,122 2s. 6i1., as compared with £65,845 17s. 6cl last. year.

A heavy gale blew all yesterday. Dunedin, April 2. Intense dissatisfaction exists among the telegraphists here owing to an atempt to bring into force a new rule under which operators are to work eight hours a day at a stretch. If the rule is persisted in, a strike is sure to take place, aud most of the best men will leave. Owing to the want of system in fixing salaries of officers, and the glaring injustice of paying inefficient meu higher salaries than expei t officers, this branch of the public service is becoming very unpopular. The Education Board has given £2500 for an acre of ground in George street north, for a site lor a new district school.

The prize heifer Flower of Brunswick, purchased recently by Colonel Fraser, tor four hundred guineas, has passed into the hands of E. Menlove, Windsor Park, Oamaru.
