Berlin, April 2. In to-day's sitting of the German Parliament, a debate took place on the proposal for German official representation at the Australian Exhibition. The President said the action of the Government dspended on the extent of representation made by German exhibitors. The Government was not yet able to assent to the proposal. London, April 3. The Standard states that the creditors of the Glasgow Bank had been offered 18s in £, which they were disposed to accept.
Bombay, April 2. In consequence of the recent ti e icherous attack by natives in the districts of Jellalabad on Sandman's camp, a British column had gone to Fygabad and Charbagh.
The Chief Commissioner of British Burmah at Rangoon has aunouuced to the Indian Government that he is anxious to protect British subjects from external turbulence, and suggest that the International Commission should give effect in remonstrances against the recent barbarous conduct of the Kin" of Biirmah. The Indian Government have consequently strengthened the garrison of British Burmah, but decided t-o maintain a defensive attitude, and refuses to allow a rupture unless brought about about by overt acts, oppression and insult, on the part of the King. London, April 1. The Crown Prince's son Henry is expected to visit Australia.
The Oriental Bank reports after paying an interim dividend in October, there remained £124,000 earnings, but losses and depressed trade swept" away the whole amount with £120,000 additional. The directors allowed for depreciation in securities and losses on East-™ exchange resulting in the absorption of nearly the whole reserve. The Times describes the action of the bank as courageous and praiseworthy in havinofiankly met ami acknowledged the actual or possible loss which may be temporary.
