So far as the committing of imposition against the public in such a ease is concerned, the consequences would not be serious; but as the qualities of both of the products are in manyjcases directly opposed to one another, we consider it our duty to direct the public attention to the following facts ;-^- The eucalyptus oil is recorded to be of valup as a medicament in cases of rheumatism of secondary nature, and manifests a drawing, blistering effect Upon the skin. Aaayblistering brought on by the ap-»liai*il>n-of a medicainent must increase aud it is therefore evident " that in cases of wounds, colds, bronchitis, diptheria, croup,. sprains &c, the "curative power of our extract on the .named .diseases being unquestionably proved'by former publications in this paper. An application of the oil instead of our extract must impair the diseased. The truth of our assertion is founded upon the fact that the oil is a resinous product equivalent to poiuinon turpentine, its market value being about three shillings one pound weight; our extract consists of the evaporating particles of the gum leaves, soothing and healing in its effects, its price being twenty-four shillings for one pound *»ei«ht.
