FASHIONABLE AMUSEMENT.

One of the reigning London beauties made a decided sensation at a hall a short time ago, by slipping a lump of ice down the Prince of Wales back. Of course the Prince gasped, turned blue, stood on his head, and was only pivvent'd from disrobing on the spot by the combined efforts of his staff. After the ice was finally fished out of liis left boot, it was confidently expected th it the chippy young female would be ordered away to instant execution. What would have occurred in the regular course of business no one knows, for just as the Prince was about to speak, he noticed a number of sly winks on the part of the surrouuiing gentleman, who were very quietly chuckling among themselves over the frantic antics of the heir apparent. He determined at once upon a horrible revenge. Putting on a ghastly smile, he remarked that it was the most awfully clever joke of the season, in fact he never enjoyed anything so much in his life. The reader will have already guessed the result. Everything the Prin -e introduces at once becomes the fashion, jind now at all swell London e .t'-rtaiiiiiient- howls of cracked ice aie set all over tlit-j rooms, evcMT lady is provided with a pair of silver tongs, while the miserable young men wear
