Three-fourths of General Biddulph's division have taken up a position on the plain of Candahar, and there is a general advance of the British troops on that city. January 3. One of the 38-ton gnns on board H.M. turret ship Thunderer at Ismid burst, destroying the turret, killing seven men and wounding 40 others. WESTERN AUSTRALIA. January 3. The fate of Messrs Woolley and Farie, of Melbourne, who were lost in the bush, seems to be certain. The camp has been found at which they turned their horses loose and abandoned their saddles, bridles, their equipments and stores. They seem to have wandered from their camp on foot, and it is feared their case is hopeless.
