Mrs'James Reid, charged with having committed perjury during the recent sly grog selling prosecutions, has been ' committed for trial. LATEST UNPUBLISHED. WRECK OF THE CITY OF AUCKLAND. Otaki, October 23. At eleven o'clock the City of Auckland, from London bound to Napier, went ashore with Captain Loins and 240 passengers. No lives were lost iu landing the passengers. The Hinemoa leaves Wellington for the scene of the wreck at noon. Later, 12.15p.m. The ship City of Auckland, from London, was bound for Napier with railway material and 240 adult immigrants. She is ashore near the mouth of the Otaki river. The vessel came ashore about 9 o'clock last night, in a very heavy north-went gale. Great excitement appear* to prevail amongst the passengers who are throwing boxes, etc., overboard. The lifeboat came ashore in charge of the second mate, and every endeavor to land passengers is heing made. The residents of Otaki are making every arrangement for the reception of the passengers, and traps and Cobb's coach are on the be-ich waiting to drive them to the township. The .beach is lined with natives who are hauling np the wreckage Wellington, October .22.
