liatzfeldt succeeds Prince Henry as German Minister at Constantinople. Sir Garnet J. Wolseley, the new Governor for Cyprus, has already under consideration a scheme of a financial company for a railway. The island
will be permanently garrisoned by a small number of troops. Wolseley will divide the island into five districts, and decide land titles by a mixed commission. The Queen has issued a proclamation declaring her interests in the islanders and their progress. Emigration continues from Egypt to Cyprus. A large line of steamers will be established between the two places. | The British Commissioners. at the j Paris Exhibition formally notified the ! other Commissioners of an International Exhibition to be held in Melbourne in 1880, and invited them to Tfe present.
