Accompanied by Sir Julius Vogel, he has seen Sir Michael HicksBeach, who appeared favourably disposed, and stated the matter was undecided. He thought the late intimation should be reconsidered. The wool sales opened this afternoon. The number of bales in time for the sale amounts to three hundred and twelve thousand three hundred and eighty-three, of which fifteen thousand were despatched to Yorkshire and the Continent. The first day’s catalogue comprised 7349 hales, of which a large proportion was Queensland wool. The attendance of home and foreign buyers was large. The-prices show a slight advance. Biddings commenced with great spirit.
