EDUCATION RESERVE COMMITTEE.

A meeting of the Committee appointed to draw up and forward the petitions to the Government and House of Representatives, praying that the Education Reserve should be cancelled, met yesterday afternoon at the Town Hall. Present : Messrs Cuming (in the chair), Duugan, Ancher, Ryan, and Wylde. The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. The Secretary reported that the petition had been signed by 452 burgesses and miners. It was resolved tha + the Secretary be requested to forward the petitions to the Colonial Secretary and to E. Barff, Esq., for presentation to the House of Representatives. Accounts for canvassing for signatures, printing and stationary, were passed for payment, amounting to .£8 10s; and it was resolved that applications be made to the Borough Council for the necessary fund for paying the Sam e. A cordial vote of thanks to Mr Wylde tor his services as Secretary to the Committee terminated the proceedings.
