HOSPITAL COMMITTEE.

The usual weekly meeting of the Hospital Committee was held last evening, at the Borough Council Chamhers. Present: Messrs Todd, Pollock, King, Anchor, Barron, Everett, and Garguillo. In the absence of the President, the Vice-President Mr Todd, took the chair. The minutes of the previous meeting, were read and eoulirraed. A letter from the 'Secretary of the Hokitika Hospital, acknowledging receipt of a cheque for £B2 12s was read and received. A letter was also received from Mr Peter Arthur, resigning Ids seat as a member of the Committee, on account of ill health. It was resolved “ That the W.irdsman receive notice that his services as Warder to the llosoital be dispensed with on and after Monday, the 3rd of J une next. An advertisement was ord wed to be inserted in the Kumara Times, Grey River Argus, and West Coast Times, calling applications for the situation of Warder in the Hospital. The plan of the new Hospital, as drawn by Mr Ebssenhardt, of Grey, mouth, was adopted. The Finance Committee brought up the following report ; Your Finance Committee report that Mr Everett and Mr Garguillo after canvassing a portion of the miners alon</ the lead have arrived at the conclusion 0 that with the help of 3 or 4 others, 300 subscription tickets may be disposed of, that 187 promises to take tickets were made to them, 27 tickets sold, and that only a small portion of the district has boeu canvassed. Your Committee have fair grounds for expecting the following income : Subscriptions from miners ... £3OO 0 0 ~ from the town 50 0 0 Proceeds of concerts or fete 150 0 0 From local sources £SOO 0 0 Government aid 500 0 0 £IOOO 0 0 In reference to the above it must be i borne in mind that no estimate has been

arrived as to the amount of subscriptions ' otherwise than for tickets, which probably ' would amount to £3O or £4O more. | The report was adopted. i Mr George King was placed on the j recommending Committee. Accounts to the amount of £l2 13s ■ 6d were passed for payment. j Mr James Scott, and Mr John Moran were elected members of the Committee. i The following amounts were handed | iu for annual tickets:—Mr Todd, £2; Mr Garguillo, £lB ; Mr Everett, £9. !
