Paris, May 11. The Biitish Ambassador has assured the French Government, that England will do nothing in.the matter of the Suez Canal without the accord of the French Government. Berlin, May 11. The Russian ambassador of London
visited Bismark, and then proceeded to St. Petersburgh.
Athens, May 11. After desperate fighting in Thessaly and Epirus an armistice has been arranged with the insurgents. Cape Town, May 11. The Kaffir rising is extending. London, April 13. Lord Hartinglon in the House of Commons submits a motion condemning the Government for the unconstitutional employment of Indian troops in Europe without the sanction of Parliament.
St. Petersburg, May 13. The Russian Official Gazette appeals to the people for the formation of a volunteer fleet. The Grand Duke Alexandi’a opened the subscription list for the purpose.

Viscount Saudon joins the Cabinet, Bismarck is reported to have urged on Schouvaloff, during his late visit, the necessity of peace both for Russia itself and Europe. Admiral De Horsey, Commander of the Pacific Station, arrived at Panama in H.M.S. Shah, to watch the movements of suspected vessels. Negotiations between the Vatican and England to establish diplomatic relations have been suspended, from a failure to agree upon the basis. Serious rioting has taken place at Darwen, Lancashire. There was bloodshed in the encounter with the police, and the military were summoned.
