THE CHESS MATCH—DUNEDIN V. CHRISTCHURCH.

[From our own Correspondent.] Christchurch April 29. The chess match between Dunedin and Christchurch was r siimed and concluded on Saturday night. The result is that Christchurch. won one game Veel v. Thomas; and Dunedin one— Mauler v. J. Wood. Of the remaining s<-ven games, all of which are to be lyferred to the umpires for their decision as to best positions, u. is considered that Christchurch has decidedly the best in -four. The others are doubtful. The umpires will have a very unenviable task ; and, in case of disagreement, the games are to be referred to Mr Benbovv (of Wellington) for settlement.
