The Kumara Times. Published Every Evening. THURSDAY, APRIL 25, 1878.

We again remind our readers of the public meeting to be held in the Empire Hotel, Dillman's Town, to-night for the purpose of considering the tunnell tail-race question. We are in a position to state that Sir George Grey is about to redeem another of the promises made by him when in Kumara, as tenders will immediately be called for the construction of a bridge over the Teremakau River. A special meeting of the Borough Council is to be held at 2 p.m., on Monday next, in the Town H<ll, to hear and determine all claims and objections to the Burgess List. In consequence of Mr Price being engaged in magisterial duties at Okarito there was no sitting of the R.M. Court today. In reference to the chess match between Greymouth and Kumara, a communication has been received by the Secretary Kumara Match Committee, by which it is contemplated that the match take place on Saturday first. The Committee are reqested to meet at Rugc's hotel this evening, where the players also will probably be found practising. The Borough of Kumara, through advertisement in another column, call for tenders for supplying metal for repairs of the streets. A special telegram of the war news having reached D. Davidson and Co. in time for the Autumn and Winter stock they availed themselves of the opportunity to be first in the markets and purchase while goods were cheap, leaving others to buy during peace negotiations, and consequently have to pay much more for them. So that D. Davidson and Co. will sell 25 per cent, cheaper than any house on the West Coast. Their large and well-assorted stock being now opened and full replenished for the Easter holidays, an early call is solicited to the Berlin House, Seddon street, Kumara.— [Advt.] Burns says, with gloomy grandeur, Ihere is a foggy atmosphere-native to my soul in the hour of care, which makes the dreary objects seem larger than life." He who suffers thus cannot be relieved by any appliances save those that touch the heart—the homelier the more sanative—and nono so sure as a wife's affection. irue, O poet, but he who suffers the racking pains of rheumatism, sciatica, or lumbago, should use, combined with your prescription, " Ghollah'a Great Indian Cures," the wonder of the nineteenth century. Testimonials may bo seen in another column, and Medicines may ho procured at all Chemists.—[Aovr.J
