Lawrence, March 11. There were sixty applications yesterday, at the Survey Office, for land under agricultural lease in Tuapeka West, Table Hill, and Waitahuna East districts j also a number of applications for land under deferred payment, in the same neighbourhood. The whole of the day the office was besieged with applications. At the inquiry into the origin of the fire at Monaghan’s shop a verdict that there was no evidence to show how the fire originated was returned. Steps are being taken to re-form the fire brigade which was disbanded a few months ago.
