With to-day will close the period during which persons not otherwise qualified may have their names placed upon the electoral roll ;and this is the last opportunity afforded us of again urging those who have hitherto neglected so obvions a duty, to delay no longer. A general election may or may not be imminent, but should a dissolution of Parliament take place during the ensuing session the contest to follow is likely to be one of the fiercest that has yet taken place in the Colony. Those who are opposed to the existing Education Act are known to be actively inducing their friends to register; and all credit to them we say. While we may not be able to indorse their viewson this subject, we commend them for adopting every legitimate means to secure a legislative eml>odiment of their ideas; and we now urge those who differ from them to follow their example.; But the question of Education is not the only important one likely to crop up at the next general election. The Land laws, the distribution of electorates, the suffrage qualification, the tariff, and others will be discussed; and as there is not a permanent resident in the Colony whq is not more or less interested in each and all of these, we would once more implore of them not to let their birth-right go. for eveu lesb than the proverbial mesa of pottage. We repeat—Register, register, register I
