Sydney, March 27. Two hundred Chinese arrived yesterday per steamship Bertha, from Hong Kong, for New Zealand.
The Chimborazo is expected to reach Sydney in the course of this week.
THE VICTORIAN CRISIS. Melbourne, March 27. In the Assembly Mr Graham Berry mioved an adjournment to Thursday. He stated he had positive assurance that terms of compromise which the Assembly could accept had been agreed to on behalf of the Council. He gave notice of motion for Thursday, <to move for a committee to search for the Appropriation Bill, and restore it to the Assembly. The motion for adjournment was carried.
LATEST UNPUBLISHED. Melbourne, March 28. Sir Bryan O’Loughiin was sworn in as Attorney-General yesterday. Mr Francis will oppose his re-election. The crisis has ended, the Council having passed the second reading of the Payment of Members Bill. The Assembly will take immediate steps to introduce an Appropriation Bill, without the item of payment of members.
The Arawata sailed yesterday for New Zealand. Sir John Coode is a passenger.
