Our contributor “Frank Truman,” writes to us “I have not sent you one of my usual lucubrations this week because your columns seem to have been pretty full of more serious matter, and in the clash of contending parties, my modest effusions would have escaped attention. I see, however, that at last peace has been proclaimed and I hope to be there or thereabouts on Monday.”
At the Magistrate’s Court this morning, before Mr E. Barff, J.P., John Mc'Olafierty, charged with being of unsound mind, was discharged, a medical certificate being handed in testifying to prisoner’s restoration to health. Chas. Bernard, John Haigh and Jacob Hansen were each fined 10s and costs for drunkenness. A special meeting of the Hospital Committee is to be held at the Brian Boru Hotel, on Monday evening. As important business has to. be transacted a full attendance, of members of Committee is expected. A meeting is to be held at the Sluicers’ Arms Hotel on Monday evening, at'B p.m, to make arrangements for the presentation of a testimonial to. G. G/ Fitzgerald Esq., .previous to his departure from the West Coast. An influential Provisional Committee has been formed.
A meeting of the members of the Kumara Cricket Club will be held ‘at Rugg’s Hotel, on Monday evehing.

The West Coast Times states that a party of miners arrived from Kumara yesterday, en route for the locality of the newly discovered reefs near Butcher’s Gully. They intend, if -they think the prospects favorable, to form a company to work one of the reefs.
