KUMARA V. GREYMOUTH. The match yesterday afternoon between Kumara and Grey mouth resulted, as we announced last evening, in the defeat of the former by 40 runs, the Kumara men, who were 1 ahead in the first innings, making only 12 in the second, against GreymouthV 51. In the evei.ing the Kutnara cricketers entertained their Greymouth opponents at a banquet held in Rugg’s Hotel, to which about thirty sat down. The tables were provided with good things in Mr Rugg's well-known liberal style; and the knights of the willow and their friends showed their appreciation by doing ample justice to them.
The table having been cleared, and the usual loyal toasts disposed of,. His. Worship, the Msyor proposed the toiist of “ The Greyniouth Team, coupled with the name of the,Captaiii t Mr A. H. Guinness. ” g Mr Seddon made an appropriate speech in his usual happy style, and said that us the Kumara team defeated Greyniouth on their own ground last time, it was only fur that Kumara should be treated in the same way.
In responding to the toa*t, Mr Guinness said he ho|ied the County Council would do something to assist the club, and not .only the club but the public generally, in obtaining a suitable Recreation Ground. After a few more toasts had been drunk, the party broke up early, in order that they might attend the oonc o-t in the Theatre Royal. ■ This morning the Greymouth team left for .Hokitika to try conclusions with Hokitika at , the Aruhnra. ,The■
