TO PRESS AGENCY. LATEST UNPUBLISHED. Sydney, January 23. Col. Glover, managing director of the Eastern Extension Company, leaves England to-morrow, with power to arrange for a duplicate cable. Parliament met yesterday. To-day Mr Stewart tabled a motion of want of confidence, which comes on to-morrow. Mr Julian Thomas, “ The Vagabond,” has been engaged for the Sydney Morning Herald. THE CRISIS IN VICTORIA. Melbourne, January 23. There have been no further dismissals, but the Executive have sanctioned numerous alterations in the Civil Service. Sergeant Sleigh and two other eminent barristers give it as their opinion that the action of the Government in dismissing the County Court Judges, Police Magistrates, and Coroners is illegal. Much importance is attached to their opinion.
