PROPOSALS FOR AN ARMISTICE. THE CRISIS IN VICTORIA. London, January 12. The services of twelve School I Inspectors have been dispensed with, and further changes in the Railway and Public Works Departments are contemplated. It is stated that the bill to reform the Council is being drafted. This will be the first measure submitted to Parliament on its meeting on the sth February. Should the Council rel ject the measure the Government will appeal to the country on the grounds that the Legislative Council Tefuses to enter upon the task of reformation.
