[press agency.} Bombay, August 29.12.21 A despatch from' Sulieman Bey of' the 26th says, there had been ten day’s indecisive fighting, during which the Russians attacked unsuccessfully. The ■ Turks held positions dominating oven Russian line of retreat. - The Russian loss was four thousand killed alone. A Russian official despatch of the 29th says, we maintain onr positions, the Turks hold adjoining heights. The Russians are massing troopsbefore Plevna. Another Russian official despatch says the Turkish firing on Sunday afternoon and Monday, at Shipka Pass was feeble. The Porte complained to England of Gieek armaments, and Turkey threatened to send troops to attack Athens, in the event of a- -rising in Thessaly. England remonstrated with Greece who sent the Porte a note. August 30. 1.9 a.m. A despatch from Sulieman says bis entrenchments are 150 pace* from the Russian position. The route to Gabrova is alone open* The Roumanian division has been ordered to operate in the rear -of Plevna. August 31. 1. p.m. The Russian loss at Shipka Pass was 2,480 wounded, including 95 and the number killed is unknown. The Turkish strength at Plevna is reported at 7 5 thousand with 200 guns. The mail steamer left Qalle for Australia on the 29tb.
