The “ No Town correspondent” of the Grey River Argus suggests the formation of a Prospecting Association. His plan is that each miner give his name for one shilling weekly—that these shilliugs be allowed to accummulate in the bands of an honorary treasurer, until they amount to say £SO, that then the Association meet and select four good practical men. or two parties of four each, if it can he afforded, and that the most likely places in the district bo selected as the scene of operations.
It is estimated that the number of persons killed through the effects of war during the period from 1852 to 1877 was nearly 2,000,000, and that the cost of war during the same period was £2,413,000,000.
