THEATRE ROYAL.

LYDIA HOWARDS BURLESQUE TROUPE.

I This excellent little company made' its reappearance last night in the Theatre : Royal and gave a programme : worthy of/ much greater patronage, than it received. a The first piece)wasamost amusing farce. „."The .day-..after the Wedding." In the concert which succeeded the principal artists sang some of their choicest songs, We have already spoken highly of the troupe as vocalists of a very high class. The brilliancy of Miss Howarde's execution .has never been equalled oh the West Coast, and those who fail to hear her, will really miss an opportunity not likely soon to be again offered. Her song. " I'll follow Thee," last night gave the audience a sample of her style. Mdlle Novaro's " I'm alone," was an example of 1 finished expression which is seldom heard even from the most pretentions vocalists. Miss Nye too, in the song " There's a path by the river," which she introduced in the afterpiece was amusingly arch. The grandscenafrom "La Grande Duchesse," "Lo here the sabre" was given with great spirit by the whole company. The "Waterman" was the afterpiece. The ' merits of the performers in this we on a former occasion called attention to. For thiß evening the first piece is " The Regular Fix," after which a concert, in which Miss Howarde is announced to sing new songs. The concluding item of the programme is the celebrated " Incantation scene" from Macbeth, with Locke's music.
