Westport May 12. There was a;tidal wave-here yesterday at 2.30. p.m. also at 6,'- when it rose six feet in 3 minutes. No damage has been done, except the washing; away of some loose material at the wharfage works., It still continues but in a slight degree. The management of the Albion Coal Company at the Ngakawa is transferred from Nelson to Duuedin. Messrs Larnach, Oliver, Turnbull, Proudfoot, and Brodrick, are on the' new Directory. Wellington, May 11. - Telegrams relating to a tidal wave have been received from the following places : Poverty-Bay, Gisborne, Napier, Lyttleton, Akaroa, Timaru, Oamaru, Port Chalmers, and Bluff. The phenomenon was observed at all the above places this morning after seven, and the rise and fall varied from three to eight feet, to which height it rose at Poverty Bay, The ebb and flow each, time is described as occupying between, fifteen minutes and an hour. No -damage is reported anywhere. Here the rise and fall slackened at midday, but increased again in the afternoon, :but ceased altogether here about seven. .; Lyttelton, May 11.
