The Misses 8011, of Te Awamuta, are at present paying a holiday visit to Kawhia, and are staying at •’ St. Elmo
Mr A. Armstrong, Couuty Engineer, was not present at the Council meetiug on Thursday lust, being laid up with lumbago.
Mr and Mrs Andoison, of Wanganui, arrived by rho overland route this (Friday) afternoon. They intend paying a visit to Hauturu, where their sons have a section.
Miss Keller, who it will be remembered was stewardess on board the s.s. Kia Ora at the time of the wreck, hud another narrow escupo in Auckland during th*e early part of the week. The saloon of the s.s. Ngapnhi caught fire, she and her sister being asleep in a state room. On opening the door it was found that it was impossible to face the flames, consequently an exit was made through the port hole, by which means her sister was afterwards recovered. Miss Kollar’s feat was both plucky aud difficult, aud in its performance she was very severely braised.
