From the brief information it was gleaned that the eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs E. 0. Stanley (Neta, about 10 years of age) was taken ill at 8.80 p.m and at 7 p.m. expired. The cause of the death is not as yet known, tbe surmises being ptomaine poisoning, inflammation through swallowing cherry stones, or poisoning by being b’tten by a katipo spider. Dr 0. Campbell Jenkins, the Coroner (Mr T. D’Arcy Hamilton) and Constable M'Oarthy have proceeded to Marokopa to hold an inquest. The deceased was a bright little girl, beloved by ail who knew her, and the suddenness of her demise will be a severe blow to her parents. Our heartfelt sympathy is extended to Mr and Mrs Stanley, which, we feel sure, will t-e endorsed by the whole of the community.
