Information has been received to the effect that Mr btewact, school inspector, will pay his annual visit to the schools of this district during next week.

Mr J. A. Johnson, of Marokopa, who had the misfortune to break his arm about six weeks ago, has completely recovered, and gone back to his home.

The Rev. R. Mitchell, of Te Kuiti, who wa.a formerly stationed at Kawhia, has been on a visit here during the past few days, being tbe guest of Mr and Mis H. J. Durham.

Mr Frank Sutton, agont for the Northern S.S. Co. at Raglan, has resigned his position, and will be succeeded by Mr Andrews, who is at present io the company’s office at WhangareL

On the result of the Mauukau election becoming known Mr Pettit (on behalf of former Kawhia supporters) sent a telegram of congratulation to Mr F. W. Lang, M.P., which was promptly acknowledged. Mr Gregg, Chief Officer of the s.s. Waitangi, who has been on leave daring the last month, has returned to duly on board the vessel. We are pleased to hear that Mr Gregg has been successful in passing bis examination for a captain’s ticket. Mr Smith, of tba Public Trust Office, New Plymouth, returned to his bome by the s.s. Waitangi on Thursday, after spending a fortnight at Kawaroa, Mr Smith was delighted with Kawhia and its surroundings, and intends recommending it to his friends as an ideal holiday resort.

*• King ” Mahuta, accompanied by his brothers and sone, yiaited the different tribes hereabouts daring the week, advocating, it is said, 'the candidature of Henare Kaihau. Rumour bath it that whilst here Mahuta chose a site for bis house and that he intends taking up his residence in Kawhia next vear.
