(FROM OUR OWN OORRRSP 0 NOKN I.) The weather has been good lately, aud shearing is progressing. About two chains of boggy road here ba l ’ been grayelled. Potatoes, and all other garden produce, are looking well, whilst wheat and oat cirape promise a good yield. The Oparau Ratepayers’ Association got ths members to vote as desired, returning the proposed county members. May they learn the law relating to county work, thus saving disappointment delay to ratepayers. No potato blight here yet. Bordeaux mixture is being tried, and if successful a larger area will be planted next year.
The Albany Surprise grapevine has rapidly proved its superiority to the older varieties, being a strong, hardy grower and very prolific.
The secretary of the local branch of the Farmers* Union ha* circulars for the use of members. The phamplets should be read as they are both educative and useful.
