COUNTY WORK.
(to tee editor. Sib,—The member of Matakowbai was asked by several ratepayers to repair a slight slip to save a wash out. Nothing has been done. Tbe chairman was written to on above subject but nothing has been done. At Oparau half the road has slipped into the river, and a deep rut full of «a er, on the bank side will shift the road into the river if not attended to. What is the use of paying rates te a local body that does not attend to our smallest wants. Tbe whole business is an ex peuae and no benefit and wo would be much better without such a County Council. If the Government bad even spent our thirds these eyesores and death traps would all now have been repaired. Mr Buho will have to get the work done as “Kapai te korero, kakino te mabi” is all we can say of our County business, Tbe proof of the duff is in eating and tbe proof of a local body’s work is bare —we want no more evidence, tbe Kawbia County Cmnci* has been a failure right from tbe start, and it is now tha business of our ratepayers to see that tbe mistake is not repeated, tut members in wao have had past experienco and wh have sufficient concentration to take enough interost in the work te gain the praise of thoie interested, instead of the blame. We are only a new community and require all the help we can get, which can bin steady thinkers who takeaWfeSWicterest in our work to do it up to date.— Yours etc,, WORKING BULLOCK.
