Tbe Secretary read the report which was as follows ; In presenting the Fifth Annual Beport your Directors regret having to report a poor season, attributable co the drought and severe fires of last summer. During the seaton 298,0M21bs of milk andJl9lolbe»of cream were received from supp Hera, producing 10,8651b5. of butterfat, valued at £271 12s 6d, which produced 11,924 J lbs. butter, valued at £561 12s od. Buttermilk realised £l, and nse of plant for timber cutting £9 7s 9d, showing a grow: profit of £399 7s 9d. The general expensea were £167 15s lid, and the working expenses £2lO 7s 6d, showing a loss on the season’s transactions of £7B 5s Bd. Your Directors are pleased to report, however, that guaranteed support has been given by the suppliers for the coming season, and unless something happens the prospects for next season are good. When comparing the small output of last season with the unaro dable expense attaching to a large and up to-date plant like curs the reason for the past season’s results can be easily seen. However, now that the fires have cleared your farms and improved them generally for dairying, your Directors hope tha‘j the supply will be substantially n creased. —G. W. Douglas, Chairman, Tbe chief items in tbe profit and Use statement were

Tbe following were Dominated as directors—Messrs Judd, Shaw, Douglas, J. Easy, J. Parkinson, and 8. Ormsby. As there were only five vacancies a ballot was taken (Mr Pettit acting as scrutineer) the result being that the first mentioned were elected. Mr Wiley having Rau-a-moa was not put on the directorate. Mr Easy briefly returned thanks, and trusted that next year the directors would have a better report to present. AUDTTQK. Mr J. K. Newton of Kawhia was re -elected auditor. THE OUTPUT. The secretary announced that he bad received a letter from tbo Loan and Mercantile Agency Go., offering to advance 10£d on the season’s output. Mr Judd said that this wee a good offer, and showed the improved position of butter. Last year some factories netted lid, and he thought that Te Rau-u moa would get a straightforward offer of lld per lb.

In reply to a question the Secretary said that offers for the season’s output did not ollose until tbe 30th met, Mr Hoffmann said that the advance was a good one. He hoped this ye ar that some money would be available to psy the suppliers every month, as tbe fact of having to wait previously had been a source of trouble. Mr Judd said that that oould not be avoided, us their overdraft could not be exceeded. THE GUAXiOTTBE borne months ago a rough guarantee was drawn up by the secretary, and signed by tbo settlers that they would supply milk for 320 cows during tbe forthcoming season. It had been decided to got this legally drawn up, and the deed was presented to the meeting. Several found fault with it, ae it was oontended the solicitor had put in clauses that weee not ndl authorised. The Secretary said that the first guarantee was quite legal, and he had had it registered and stamped. Mr Judd : We will have a better chance of recovering on the old agreement if we have to sue. Mr Easy,:. sevar tear. There will uoj be any need to sue. It was decided to return the deed to the solicitor. RXGBETS. Tbe Secretary said that he was surprised at the smallness of tbe meeting, and regretted that he had to speak in that strain. Previously there bad been a lot of talk about, tbe factory, but he thought that tbe annual meeting was the place to air grievances—noc on tbe roads—and if that was done it would be beneficial to all concerned. He thought the poor attendance should be recorded. .Mr Judd agreed that tbu poor attendance looked very bad. The Secretary: I took it upon myself to have the meeting advertised in the Settler, so as everybody would I know of it. THANKS. The returning directors were accurdel a vote of thanks on thu motion of Messrs Easy and 8. Ormjby, whilst Mr Douglas moved, and Mr J. A Ormjby seconded appreciation of (be attendance or Mr Pettit of the Rxtxlh* who, they remarked, had always been at their meetings, and had helped the company in many ways. Toe m otion was carried, and briefly acknowledged.
