Mr Tizard, of tbe Northern SB. Co., paid a visit to Kawhia during the week, inspecting the a.s. Rothesay. The death took place at Waitara on Thursday last of Mr J. D. Wiley, (of the late firm of Scott and Wiley,) who was well known in tbe district.
A New Plymouth paper reports the death in the hospital of Mr Frederick Newsham, a settler on the const past Nukuhakeri, after a long illness. Mr Pierei, has resigned his position as engineer of the s.s. Rothesay, and left for Auckland on Thursday morning. Mr Easy has taken the position. Tbe wedding took place in St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Auckland, on August 22nd, of Mr Herbert Nesbit (eldest son of Mr and Mrs Nesoit, of this town) and Miss Ethel Davoreti (youngest daughter of Mr George Davoren, Tau - range). Mr and Mrs Nesbit have taken up their residence in Kawhia.
