AWAROA BRANCH; A meeting of the above was held on the 2nd inst, when there was a good attendance. A hearty yote of thanks was dnanimoaely accorded Mr J. G. Wileob, for bin efforts to obtain justice to the settlers of Awaroa re reading access,, end nlso to Mr VV. J. Shaw for the able way be represented thia branch at tho Provincial Conference, and foi‘ his efforts on behalf of the Awaroa-Mahoe road. It was decided to request the Hon. Minister for Lauds to have the stock reserve fenced, and also ask Mr s Greenslade, M.P„ to call for a return of all money spent on the AwaroaJKahoe road, both grants and loading. Astrong protest was entered against tho absurd “Shearers’ Accommodation Bill,” the following resolution being passed, to be forwarded co,the Minister for Labour and our member : “That this branch of the Farmers’ Union protest most emphatically against the ridiculous Shearers*,Accommodation Bill now before House, as it it would be simply ruinous in a new district, and it is ridiculous to ex pect small farmers to go to so much expense when the buildings would be only used at most for a fortnight in the year and would he lying idle for and deteriorating.” The meeting then went into committee to’eelecta candidate for the coming election.
