Kawhia Town Board.
A meeting of the above body was held in Mr J. K. Newton’s office <u Tuesday night last, when there were present—Crs Jonathan (Chairman), Falwasaer and Turrell. A letter was read from W. W. Davies asking permusion to erect a bridge over the'outlet from the swamp so that the drain could be deepened —Permission was granted. Sir J. G. Ward telegraphed asking that the Board fittingly reopgniae Dv-tn n.nn D y (ot 26th). — JLeft, <o die new Bowni jfoThe Clerk was instructed to apply to have tho old Police Reserve vested in tho Board. The following accounts were passed for payment :—P. Ward, £7 10s ; Jonathan Ltd., £2 14i9d ; J. K. Newton, £3 6s 8d ; H. H. Pettie, £1 18a 6d ; G. H. Chase, 4s ; D. Galvan, 10s. A motion striking a rate of 3d in the £ waa carried, Or Falwaaser moving same and Cr Tarrell seconding. Sundry minor matters were discussed, but as it was tho last meeting of the Board, it was decided to leave definite action over until; the new Boaad was elected.
