Oparau.
We have had better weather lately for the young grass. This eneeon has been a trying one, but pluck, push and potience will get there. All who know the steady and Ufpa profit made by selling milk or creaa are at present anxious to have a butter factory in operation at Kawhia. Many who guaranteed only a few cows for a start are now guaranteeing tbe toll number they can feed, and some will use up-to-date milking manhiiMß, which do 10 cows per hour foe a S cow set. A hundred cows can be milked io the usual time by adding extra machines to the plant. An up to dele separator, driven by a steam turbine, steam boiler and milking machine ooete £lOO, and does away with tbe unrnfiability of hired labour, as three peoplb can manage 100 cows, the milk can be conducted direct to the separator, thus milking and separation are done to-
together. I think tbe local branches of the Farmers Union, although in the Auckland Provincial District, would be more useful if working with the Taranaki branches in the Taumarnnui electorate as their and our political intereste are identical.
