Wedding at Oparau.
On Wednesday sfieroocn, M«y 18 h, a very pretty and interest ng wed Hog was celebrated at Mr and Mr* Armstrong’s residence “Mavis B mfr, ’ Oparau, wbeu their young st d»-iganr r Miss Annie, was mttri».l t-. J<» n M twatf, of Cheviot. The R-v. C. E. David on officiated, the brides’ I r >thec Mr W. Armstrong, performing the duties of best man. The rmm in which tbe ooremony look ptee», was tastefully decorated for the occasion, the walte being fe?t toned with cyoopodium and feathery (ihage, while suspended fr -m tbe o n re of tbe roof, was a pretty fl ><-al pand mt, which gave a very eff >otive«meh t-» tbf acene. Tbe bride, who was given away by her father, looked charming io a dainty white silk dress, trimmed with silk iasertiou and lace, also wearing a spray of orange blossoms in her hair. She was attended by her sister, Mias Isabella Armstrong as bridesmaid, who was prettily attired in a graceful gown ot white embroidered Brussels net over white’Roman satin. Mrs Armstrong, mother of the bride, wore an elegant black silk gown, wish elaborate trimmings of silk lace.
At the conclusion of the oerem-Miy, a number of guests sat down to a sumptuous wedding feast, at which tbe usual toast? were proposed and respon, d«d to, the Rev. Davidson proposing the health of the bride and bridegroom. Quite a jolly time was spent by aUpresent ; and when the guests were leaving, three hearty cheers were g*veo for the host and hostess, Mr and Mrs Arm» strong. The newly-wedded couple were tbe recipients of numerous congratulations and a large number of handsome and useful wedding presents. The bridegrooms present to tbe bride was a massive gold bangle, and to the bridesmaidj a dainty gold brooch. Mr and Mrs Mo watt left next dev. for Paterangi, en route to Auckland, where they will stay for a period, before going to take up their residenM at Cbevist. Tbe bride’s travelling dress was a pretty brown cloth costume with bat to match.
