Awaroa.

(from our own* oobbtsspondent.) From private sources I hear Mr VV. Black, a solicitor from the South, intends starting in Kawhia. There should be a good opening for a solicitor in Knwhis, and I am sure Mr Black will be welcomed. At the present time it is very inconvenient and costly getting a solicitor either from Auckland or Hamilton.

Messrs Noonan, of the Kauri Valley, have just finished shearing and are thoroughly satisfied with their clip, and lamb percentage, and are still more convinced than ever that this country ie specially adapted for growing sheep and lambs. This country is only in its infancy yet but wait for a few years. There will then be thousands of sheep in thia district for every one there is at the present time, and if tbe c.mntrv was only properly roaded land well improved would be worth £lO an acre, instead of about £4 cr £5 as at the present time Haug on, there is a gond time coming. At the present time I -know where 4000 good breeding ewes could be placed in this district, but the trouble is where aro we going to get them. I don’t think »he Waikato can supply the class of sheep wo require. The potato blight is going right through tba crops and will cause a great loss to the settlers, as almost every crop is affected, in some oases being completely ruined. I think the Government should take urgent seeps to find out if it is possible to check or s amp out the pitato blight. The ordinary spraying mixtures are not a sne cess. A better plan would be to soak the seed in some blight-resisting solution. I believe fair results have been obtained in some cases by soaking the seed in tbe Bordeaux mixture.

Grass is very plentiful just now. Tbe n ? cj soft shower*, followed by the ann b:T». w\s just whot w.w required. F hoar M- Hinton, of the Kaimwgo Valley, has ju-t finished building a pubstar.-iial residence, and is about to shift his family from Ktwhia to ths farm.

Mr W. i« getting in bis sawmill plant to his seciion on the O imara rood, and intends being in full swing in a few weeks.
