A meeting was held in the Settler office on Monday evening with the object of forming a Horticultural Society for Kawhia County. Mr Newton ex plained his idea in calling the meeting and said he had been promised two guineas towards prizes, another guinea baing offered iu the room. Mr J. K, Newton was appointed secretary p.o tern, and in was suggested that a can v&ss bo made to sea how many mem bars could be got, and another meeting will be held in a fortnight to form the society and arrange about a show. It was considered that March would be the best month to hold the first show.
