Messrs Bard and Forsyth, of the Roads and Bridges Department, returned to Kawhia from Kiritehere on Wcdnebdey, and left for Te Kuiti the samr night. At Harihari, Messrs Bell Bros and Rosa bed » considerable portion of their tram line through the swamp very badly damaged owing to a small creek flooding. Suverul c( tho lady residents of Kahn gave the children a dance in Scott’s Hall on Saturday night, which was very enjoyable. The music was supplied by Mrs Langley, Misses Hamilton, Thompson, and Mr R. M‘Oarthy. The school children rendered a song as also did Miss Hamilton. Supper was [ r .vided by the ladies. We learn that the recant heavy weather caused a big fl ><;d in the Awa r< a River. About 11 chains of a heavy rock cutting on the road were washed away, meesaitaling tbs settlers again reverting to the former unique track—along the bed of the river. There are alsj many slips on the same road, and altogether the damage done is considerable -
