THE AWAROA ROAD.
(to the editor ) Sir, —‘‘Others in the Awaroa valley” is apparently trying to make a moan tain oat of a molehill. There certainly were a tew small trees down on the road for a short time, not months, and the reason they were not removed before was that no one coule be got to do the work, until one of ths settlers got time to do so. Why did “Awaroa” do the work if be objected so much ? 1 would like to know if “Awaroa’s” name is on the defaulters list at the store, as those who do not pay are generally ihe first to cry out. If “Awaroa” “had eyes to see”, he would have seen that a gang of men were at work most of the time the Awaroa councillor was away, so that his absence had nothing to do with work not being done. I would also advise “Awaroa” to look up bis geography as regards Kawhia, when I think he will find that the trees complained of are in the Kauri Riding, so that instead of abusing the Awaroa councillor he should look to the member for that riding (whom, I have no doubj, he helped to get in), and make sure of his position before he rushes into print again.—Yours etc., ONE OF THE SETTLERS. P.B.—Only a very low-down person would find “pleasure” in seeing a set tier up to his knees in mud, clearing trees off the road. Jt shows bow small the trees were when one man couid re move them in that state.
