A GOVERNMENT PROMISE. (By Tbleuraph ) (Special to the Settlor.) Wellington, Thursday. * Mr Greenslade, M.H.8., baa obtained a premise from the PosfmaaterGeneral that if the Kawhia County Council guarantees £-16 per annum for five years, the construction of thejtelephone line to Marokopa will be at once undertaken.. The distance is 20 miles and the approximate cioik £6OO. Mr Percy R bp, < f Kiritehero, estimates the annual revenue at £6O or £7O, po that the gTinranfee asked for should be only a formal matter.
