THE WRECK OF THE KIA ORA.
(to the editor.) SIK,—I must take exception to the word “impetuously” in connection with my name in your account of the wreck of the Kia Ora. On arriving at Nukuhakari beach Mr De Wolfe, the first officer of the Kia Ora, asked me would I go ashore in the dinghy and see whav sort of landing there was for the surf boat, and also to see bow many there were to come off. He did this as I am slightly acquainted with the locality. I did so, and as the surf is a bit tricky for a dinghy I capsized in one of the breakers. There was no danger to me, as after getting the information desired I returned to the Rothesay without sbioping a spoonful of water, and with absolutely no “impetuosity” either coming or going.— Yours, etc., E. DARCY HAMILTON.
