FOOTBALL. OPARAU V. AW/’UJA. The above match took place at Oparau on Jute Ist, and being the first of the season, was watched with great interest by the spectators. The game resulted in a win for the home team by 14 to 8. For tbe winners Doctor (2), H. Atkins and King scored tries, one of which was converted by H. Atkins, while Tupu scored for Awa roa. Cousideriug that nearly a’l the Awaroa players aire young at the gme they are to be (nngratulated on the firm stand tboy made. For tbe winners H. Atkins, King and Doyle deserve mention among the backs, but it is difficult to single out any ot the forwards who all grafted hard. H. Armstrong, Kingi’and Tupu showed most prominently for th) losers. After the match the visitors were entertained by the local dub iu the schoolroom. MRS WILT ISONS ’ TEAM V. MB RANDALLS’ After a rattling game, the match between teams chosen by Mrs Willison and Mr H. Randall, played at Marokopa on Saturday, resulted in a draw. Another game between the teams is now being arranged, and should be another keen contest.
