Oparau School Social.
This secial eventuated in the Oparau School on Friday, May 81st. and tamed out to be a most enjoyable evening. The night being very cold was a perfect one for dancing. The room was very nicely decorated with uikau and tbe tree ferns and thesn| p r, provided by the ladies of the district wrr greatly appreciated by all present, numbering about fifty. The teacher Miss Hayes, waei most indefatigable in attending to tbe wants ot tbe strangers present. Danou , was kept up with great spirit till r mi 4 a.m. During the evening voca items were coutri bated by Messrs F. Terry, W. Doyle, A. Symons, O. Spurbng and P. Brougb. The musio was supplied by Mr. P. Brougb, Messrs Davies Bros aud Messrs Schrieber Bros. This is the finut of ase ies of monthly Socials, the proceeds of which will g> towards paying for the teacher’s re idenoe.
