(feom our own correspondent.) At the adjourned anneal meeting of the Farmers’ Union held on Saturday evening Mr W. J. Shaw was re-elected chairman for the coming year, and Mr J. Kearns secretary and trearurer. The following were appointed executive Committee: Messrs J. P. Wright, J. Crotty, W. Larsen, J. Shaw, D. Tynan, J. Harper and J. Woolly. It was resolved to hold committee.meetings once a month and general meetings every three months. The chairman spoke with earnestness on the necessity of unity amongst the farming classes, and also referred ti the good work done by the Farmers’ Union as a whole daring the past year. There is now a membership of over thirty in tbe Union here, which is a greater number than over before. This I regard as the unanimous rep’y of the people to the false prophi ts who predicted its downfall early in its career. There is one thing, however that all members should bear in mind, viz., that they cannot hope to successfully carry on the battle for their rights without a well filled war chest. Money won't do everything in this world but it goes a long way in righting tbe wroogs of a community as well as the individual and when we remember this I am sure there is no man worthy who will hesitate about giving bis mite towards the cost of msimaining this wwflwe for those rights and liber tin- which bo h God and nature intended we should enjoy.
