The Winter Show.
The first winter nbow held in Auckland last week was very successful, tbe attendance being large, including quke a number from this disbiict. As an exhibition of tba productiveness of New Zealand, it is stated that it was the best winter show ever bill in the colony. On all sides it was admitted that the display of dressed fl »x, butter would be hard to surpass anywte e In the class for dressed flax entiies wore received from Kawhia, Raglan.. Rotorua, Hcreke, Pukeno, Ringiriri, T theko, Te Puke and Mangapai, but there was no exhibit from the first named place, Mr Williams, of the Pa-ki-ko mill, not forwarding the flax. The prize was won by Mr George Ratherf >rd, of Raglan, Messrs Wallis Bros. (Raglan) being plnead second, and Mi? 0. Fredsbur# (Tahek-) third. There was keen competition for the awards for butter. In tbe grading points there were 82 entries. Tbe prizes were first £2O, second £lO, third £5, and 12 smaller prizes amounting to £45, and were awarded to the butter mtker whose factory output for the season gained the highest aggregate points according to the Government grader's certificates issued between October 1,1906, and March 31, 1907. The first prize was won by Thames Valley, 98 25 (4G92 boxes), Waikeikei 92*64 (1098 boxes) being placed second and Manawaru 92*55(1092 b >xes) 8-d. Te Rau-a-moa was twelfth with 92 09 (810 boxes) and Te Mata twentieth with 91 21 (798 boxes).
