POISNNED GRAIN.
(to the editor.) Sib,—Some months ago the C. unty Council procured some poisons i grain, with the object of supplying set’Lrs who suffer from the small bird nui sance. It is surprising to learn tba very few farmers havs availed themselves of the opportunity offered. The result is, the grain is still lying in the Council Chambers, and causes great consternation in tbe mind of tbe County Clerk, as the grain is a great attraction to rats. Heappears to have a great objection to ba told that there are rats; but there they are, and after a little persuasion he admits the fact It appears to me a pity that rats should wax fat on grain originally intended for the small birds, who would now probably appreciate a smack this win try weather. —Yours, etc., ARSENIC.
